  NOVEMBER/DECEMBER'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH

November/December’s player of the month goes to Worsley’s Mark Foster. It’s been a tough season for the normally consistent Landscape Gardener, with a record of played 33 and only won 12 before a phenomenal run of 6 wins on the bounce. The fixture secretary surprised everyone when he pitted Mark to play green specialist Chris Morrison at the back end of October, (you normally receive easier games when you are having a bad run) but it didn’t bother Mark who saw off Chris with a 41-37 win with Mark receiving 2. Then it was average leader Dave Higginbottom to take up the challenge, Mark receiving 1 fiddled and piddled about to out do Dave late on in the game to win 41-36. Next up was St.Helens’s Alan Heaton who had no answer to Mark’s precise leads to record a 41-29 win off level.

Then we saw the return of Standish’s Stuart Mort, Stuart was leading all the way only for Mark to come on strong again and pip the driving instructor near the end carding a 41-37 win. The end of the month saw two re-match games against Dave Higginbottom and Chris Morrison, in the first game, Dave had no answer to the right arm and left leg of Mark’s with Mark coasting in 41-30. The last game of the month for Mark against Chris was Mark’s finest of the season, Mark never giving Chris an inch to take home a 41-23 win, Chris’s biggest defeat for some time. So an about turn in fortunes has turned Mark’s average figures around considerably to end the season winning 18 and losing 21.
